  • Former Member of ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council)

  • Four years service as seaman in Merchant Marine on deck

  • Formal marine survey training by Ray Newton, AAA Marine Services, 1994

Retired Salem Police officer including tour of duty as detective

Assigned to Salem Harbormaster Department to train personnel in use of 36' twin diesel patrol boat

 

Part-Time Captain Salem Ferry 2008

The ferryboat Nathaniel Bowditch is a 92 foot, high-speed catamaran passenger vessel (with a 30 foot beam) which runs from Salem to Boston and back. Duties of the captain include piloting and docking in Salem and Boston, along with maintenance of engines, generators and other ship systems.

 

Hands-On Structural Experience

 

          Restored and presently own a 36' 1987 Black Fin Combi “Black Cat”.

As of Spring 2010, we are considering offers for the Black Cat.

Retrofit experience: Detroit Diesels 671TI rehab, windshield replacement, forward deck reconstruction with balsa coring/multiple layer fiberglass cloth/epoxy/non-skid, Awlgrip® refinishing, electrical system rebonding, cutlass bearing and prop shaft replacement and miscellaneous troubleshooting of various vessel systems and construction issues.

Other experience: Many repair and maintenance tasks, installation of various on-board equipment and through-hull devices.
